Surrey is a county in the South East of England. The county has a long and detailed history, as it was once the home to many other London boroughs until the year of 1889, when they were moved to form a part of Greater London. Croydon, Kingston, Richmond, Barnes, Sutton and Merton were also all boroughs within the County of Surrey and these too were transferred to the Greater London area in 1965. Surrey County is situated to the western side of the South East England region and therefore it borders Greater London and other South East English counties including: Kent, Berkshire, Hampshire, East Sussex and West Sussex. The county town of Surrey is Guilford, which is a very historical town and is a part of a borough of which takes its name from this county town. The Surrey County Council has a well known motto, which is “Making Surrey a better place”. This motto can sometimes be seen alongside the Surrey flag too.
Surrey is a ceremonial and non-metropolitan county. After losing some of its former boroughs and districts to the Greater London area, Surrey is now made up of eleven boroughs and districts, these are: Woking, Elmbridge, Guilford, Epsom and Ewell, Mole Valley, Reigate and Banstead, Surrey Heath, Spelthorne, Waverly and Tandbridge. Surrey as a whole is a historical county, which has been listed as the twelfth most highly populated English county with its population of around 1, 135, 500 residents. The population of Surrey is quite high considering the area it covers, as the total area of the county measures to 1, 663km2 which puts it at number thirty five in the list of English counties. Although the county town of Surrey is Guilford, the administrative headquarters for the county are located in Kingston upon Thames.
The County of Surrey is one of the few counties within the region of South East England which doesn’t have a coastline because it does not share borders with the sea. However, this doesn’t mean that Surrey doesn’t have anything to keep its locals and visitors entertained. Surrey has an extensive list of interesting things to do and place to visit. Across the county there are many beautiful landscapes that can be found. Greensand Ridge, Box Hill, the Devil’s Punch Bowl, Leith Hill and Frensham Common are some of the well known landscapes within the county. The Greensand Ridge is also the second highest point in the south east of England. The National Trust and the Ministry of Defense also run Thursley Common and Witley Common, which are two national parks which are set on an expansive piece of open land. The county consists of eleven non-metropolitan districts and it is said that there is at least one wildlife reserve in each of these districts. There are a total of eighty Surrey Wildlife reserves scattered across the county.
If you like history and would like to see a bit of old English history then you should take a trip to the Loseley Park Tudor mansion which was built in the 1560’s. To the east of Guilford lies the 18th century Palladian mansion which is known as Clandon Park and is located in West Clandon. There is also a very popular and well known theme park called Thorpe Park in the county, which offers fun and entertainment for all of the family. Surrey has quite a rich motoring history and the Brooklands Museum is where you can find all of the exhibits and facts about this. Over the years, Surrey has also been made famous through the media and in films and books. Surrey has been mentioned in numerous films and books, including Harry Potter, Emma and The War of the Worlds. In the films: The Holiday, Harry Potter and Atonement, Surrey was mentioned as the home place of the characters or was where the stories were set.

Our belongings were treated with great care and moved swiftly by the team at Amazing Moves. I cannot recommend them enough.
Punctual, friendly, and hardworking are just a few words to describe our moving team.
Their removal services are top drawer. I can't begin to explain how much help they were for me on the day in Surrey. It's safe to say I'd still be lost under a pile of bubble wrap, boxes and tape if it hadn't had been for their expert help.
Searched for a decent removal business in Surrey to dump some old appliances. Very professional experience and will call on them again soon.
